Let it Snow

Taking advantage of the snow that had fallen all day, we went out to take photos of the snow. By the time we had gone out, the snow was slowly melting away and you could see the water drops. I wanted to show how the snow was beginning to melt so I took the photos of the little leaves with water droplets and a patch of remaining snow. I also saw how the decorations of the memorial were slightly covered in snow but still managed to look colorful and patriotic. For both photos I had my mode dial on portrait so it could focus on whats on the front-ground of the image and burr out the background. The f-stop is 5.6 and the shutter speed was 1/125 for the second photo and 1/160 for the first photograph.

Leading Lines

For this photo it needed to express leading lines. It was difficult for me to choose something that showed this. So in order to get something similar I got really close to the tree in order to get the affect of  of a "path" leading up the tree. I personally liked this photo but I don't think its the best representation of leading lines.

Interrupting Pattern

For this photo we had to find an interruption in a pattern. The pattern I chose for this photo was pattern on the ceiling made by the tiles. The interruption in the pattern is the small box/cube that is placed on one of the square. I really like the way the photo turned out.

Contrast

For this photo I wanted to find contrast. It was hard to find contrast around the area I was in but I managed to get this photo without setting it up. This leaf was the only yellow leaf that was on the bush so I took advantage of the scene to use it as contrast. I used the portrait mode on the mode dial in order to make the leaf stand out more than it already did. The f-stop was 5.6 and the shutter speed was 1/60.

Unlike the other photo, this one was set up. Like mentioned before, it was a bit difficult to find contrast. I really like the way the photo came out. The light purple of the flower petals and the bright green from the stem really stand out from the lightly darker and more neutral background. For this photo the f-stop was also 5.6 and the shutter speed was 1/50.

Facade

For this photo I went to the front the school to get the face of it. Facade is the face of something such as a building or a person. In this case I had to do the school. I wasn't quite happy with the angle but it was a bit difficult to take a picture at the right angle.

Photos on Night Mode

In this photo we used the Night Mode in the mode dial and took pictures in a darker area. The area where the photo was taken was under part of the school. Not much sun reached this area. While using the Night Mode, the photo came out clear and bright.

Rule of Thirds

In this photograph I used the Rule of Thirds in which I chose the focus of the photo to be on the left side. Instead of having the main focus in the center, its off to the side. I found that this photo in particular had good composition from the other photos I had taken.

In this photo I also used the Rule of Thirds in which the person in the photo isn't in the center of the frame.

Sports Mode

For this photo I used the sports mode on the mode dial. The shutter speed was 1/500 which allowed me to get a fast photo of this person's jump. Also I'm quite happy with how the shadow is shown. By where i decided to take the photo and the height in which the person jumped, it doesn't look like the person was just standing father behind.
For this photo I also used the sports dial and the shutter speed was the same. The difference in this photo is that it wasn't as sunny outside.

Portrait Photo Experiment

In this photo I tried to make the background blurry and the front clearer by using portrait mode on the camera. I really liked the way it worked. The background was slightly busier than I wanted it but it still looks pretty good. I'm also quite happy with the color choice of the back. Portrait mode is one of my favorite modes that the camera offers.
