Fast Shutter Speed

In order to get this photo of a hat flying in the air, I had to have a fast shutter speed. The shutter speed 1/1000 which meant it would be really fast which was perfect for the shot. I had my camera set on shutter priority as I took it. I also had my friend throw my hat up so I could capture it in the air.

Slow Shutter Speed

The f-stop for this photo was 1" so it wasn't that slow. I expected the photo to turn out better but I realize my error was in the speed in which the people were walking. I figure that the person was walking faster than I expected which caused her to just look like a ghost. You can still see the movement of the person walking around while the other model stands perfectly still.

Using Aperture as a Tool

For this photo I had to take a photo using the aperture skills we learned in class. I wanted to get only the foreground, the person, in focus and the background out of focus. In order to do that I needed a low f-stop and a large aperture. That way I would have a low depth of field. The f-stop for this was 5.6

This photo also has a small f-stop and large aperture. This causes only the foreground to be in focus. I really wanted to blur out as much of the background as possible. The f-stop for this photo was also 5.6

Aperture

For this photo I had to test my skills on aperture. For a larger depth of field so that a lot more things are in focus I need a large f-stop. A large f-stop means that the opening is smaller. The f-stop for this photo is 18. 

This photo had a smaller f-stop (5.3). The opening was a lot larger than the opening of the photo before. As you can see in the photo not much of the photo is in focus. I used a tripod for both photos.

Let it Snow

Taking advantage of the snow that had fallen all day, we went out to take photos of the snow. By the time we had gone out, the snow was slowly melting away and you could see the water drops. I wanted to show how the snow was beginning to melt so I took the photos of the little leaves with water droplets and a patch of remaining snow. I also saw how the decorations of the memorial were slightly covered in snow but still managed to look colorful and patriotic. For both photos I had my mode dial on portrait so it could focus on whats on the front-ground of the image and burr out the background. The f-stop is 5.6 and the shutter speed was 1/125 for the second photo and 1/160 for the first photograph.

Leading Lines

For this photo it needed to express leading lines. It was difficult for me to choose something that showed this. So in order to get something similar I got really close to the tree in order to get the affect of  of a "path" leading up the tree. I personally liked this photo but I don't think its the best representation of leading lines. 

Interrupting Pattern

For this photo we had to find an interruption in a pattern. The pattern I chose for this photo was pattern on the ceiling made by the tiles. The interruption in the pattern is the small box/cube that is placed on one of the square. I really like the way the photo turned out.
